Director Corbett Wins Captive Professional of the Year
The Tennessee Captive Insurance Association, Inc. (TCIA) would like to congratulate Michael Corbett, Director of Captive Insurance for the State of Tennessee, on winning Captive Insurance Professional of the Year as given by Captive Review Magazine.
In commenting on the award, the judges had the following the say about Director Corbett, “Michael Corbett has led a team of highly-skilled and dedicated analysts in the business of reviewing and licensing new entities in their state. Over the past five years, there has been a number of headline grabbing emerging onshore domiciles, but this particular regulator’s dedication and consistent commitment to the industry has drawn admiration and praise from across the captive spectrum. His department licensed 42 new captives in 2014, including a range of captive types and sizes and he is almost always present at every captive related gathering on the circuit; demonstrating his commitment to the task at hand.”
When asked what the award meant, Mr. Corbett replied, "It is truly a great honor to receive Captive Professional of the year. I stand on the shoulders of a great team, the unwavering support of Governor Haslam and Commissioner McPeak and a business association (TCIA) that is second to none!”
Kevin Doherty, President and Chairman of the TCIA, said, “This is a great and well deserved honor for Mr. Corbett. He is widely recognized in our industry for his business acumen and his understanding of captives, and Tennessee would not be the successful domicile it is without his leadership. He has built a top notch captive team at the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, and the TCIA greatly appreciates his dedication to captives and his fairness as a regulator. The future is very bright for Mr. Corbett.”
